A terrific line-up of poets, musicians and prose writers, orchestrated by the indomitable Peter Mortimer, appeared at Iron Press’s 40th birthday knees up in Cullercoats last weekend. This was a fantastic celebration of all that Iron Press has achieved with imaginative programming, audiences fortified by much homemade cake and good company and events in great venues. Poetry highlights for me were Kevin Cadwallender, Valerie Laws, S.J. Litherland, Pauline Plummer and the irrepressible Ian McMillan. Now there are so many more new poetry books to read and so little shelf space.
